Engage for future success
Your Chamber is being disciplined in developing our leadership team and direction for the future. While Courtney Crush, Crush Law, is finishing her term as chair, she will be followed by Calvin Glidewell, Broward Health Medical Center, then Heiko Dobrikow, The Las Olas Co. and Riverside Hotel, and Keith Costello, Broward Bank of Commerce in 2017.
The measure of success for any organization is directly related to the individuals who participate in its culture. Later this month our Nominating Committee will review and recommend leaders for our 2015 Board.
As we plan for our future we are also reminded we have much to finish this year. Our economic indicators remain strong as we are focused on expansion and job creation. To keep our unemployment rate low 90,000 net new jobs must be created by 2030.
That is why November’s elections are paramount. A strong employment sector is anchored by “good government” supportive of the free enterprise system and quality of life.
To that end your Board approved support of an $800 million Broward County School Bond issue, extension of the Children’s Services Council’s taxing authority, and marriage equality in Florida.
As we extend our impact on items critical to our regional economy, we also work for Port Everglades expansion, sand for our beaches, and we begin our centennial celebration of Broward County, Saturday, October 25.
You will not want to miss the Chamber’s Salute to Business, Nov. 6, as it singles out individuals making a difference for our economy and future. I look forward to seeing you there.
Thank you for having the discipline, energy and concern to engage for our future.
