Gay & Lesbian Business Exchange (GLBX),
A Council of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce

Broward County's premiere gay-friendly networking organization, maximizing our members business profitability.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is the first Chamber in the state of Florida and one of the first in the nation to recognize the LGBT community as a major component of their membership. The contributions of the gay and lesbian business community within our city and surrounding area is major driver to our local economy. As the mission of the Chamber is to drive economic growth for the Greater Fort Lauderdale community, it was recognized that the gay and lesbian community needed to be included in a manner to unite and connect, giving an inclusive voice to continue to attract new gay and lesbian owned businesses.

GLBX originated as the Gay and Lesbian Business Exchange and formally became a council in late 2010, shortly before the two year anniversary.  Growth of members to 150 in less than two years was a milestone on the road to success of the GLBX Council.

We encourage all gay and lesbian owned businesses as well as their allies in Greater Fort Lauderdale to attend any of our events and consider joining the chamber and actively participating with GLBX.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the chamber and GLBX should contact the Chamber at 954.462.6000.

July 2017 Member of the Month

Marty Elberg, Circle of Life Legal Services

Circle of Life Legal Services is an estate planning practice that focuses on helping families enhance their lives today and secure their futures for tomorrow.  Attorney Marty Elberg helps guide clients through the often confusing maze of financial and legal decisions to create plans that ensure the well-being of families and the accomplishments of cherished family goals.

Marty Elberg graduated from California Western School of Law in 2006. After graduation, Marty moved back to his hometown of Eagle Grove, Iowa to be closer to his and his wife’s family where they could raise their boys with the same Midwestern values they learned.  Soon after he was admitted to the Iowa bar in 2007, he opened his own practice to serve the small town.  After several years of growing his business and transitioning their boys into responsible young men, Marty and his wife moved to Florida. He now resides in Fort Lauderdale with his wife, Susie. Their children live in Iowa and Virginia. One is in the Army National Guard and the other is in the US Navy.

Community involvement has always been a top priority for Marty. In April of 2015 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Voices for Children of Broward County. This organization helps bring normalcy to neglected and abused children under the care of the state in Broward County.  He was also selected as one of three finalists for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award.
