The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Technology Committee is pleased to announce the first annual Protect & Promote Technology Summit on June 5 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Suites Fort Lauderdale at Cypress Creek. This half-day seminar will provide invaluable insight into the latest hacking scams, trends in cryptocurrency, and surefire ways to leverage social media for personal and professional gain.
“Cyber Attacks have increased 170 % this year alone - It takes 20 years to build a reputation and few minutes of cyber-incident to ruin it. Cyber Awareness has to be a part of every businesses toolkit,” said Michael Goldstein, Chair of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Technology Committee and President & CEO of LAN Infotech.
Keynote speaker Rob Krug, Senior Security Solution Architect for SonicWall and an experienced hacker, will take the crowd through new hacking techniques, how to spot them, and how companies can prevent a breach from taking over vital systems.
A panel will then focus on the ever-changing world of cryptocurrency, from the basics, to how hackers are using the digital cash to hold organizations captive. Supervisory Special Agent Jason Manar with the FBI’s Cyber Crime Unit, David Silver, Founder Partner of Silver Miller, and Stanislav A Shamayev, Esq. will dive into the legal risks and opportunities associated with cryptocurrency as well as the future of Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology.
A second breakout session will dive into the increasingly vital world of digital marketing, zeroing in on social media. Panelist Chris Van Vliet, reporter for Deco Drive and President & Co-Founder of e-commerce fishing brand WOO! Tungsten will explain how he grew his company’s Instagram following from zero to more than 90,000 in less than a year. Kimberly Cohane, M.S., Associate Director of Public Relations and Digital Marketing for Nova Southeastern University will demonstrate how to leverage LinkedIn both personally and professionally, and moderator Sebastian Rusk, CEO and Founder of SocialBuzzTv.com and author of Social Media Sucks! (If you don’t know what you’re doing) will explain how to connect your channels to capture the largest return.
Attendees will then enjoy lunch while a second keynote speaker Jonathan Brownfield, CEO of Lift Digital Media, breaks down the strategies that make his company so successful. He’ll also tell attendees about Behind the Wheel, a luxury automotive review site which puts him in the driver’s seat of some of the most expensive vehicles on the market.
