Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency

Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is one of the nationís 58 federally designated nonprofit organ recovery agencies. Serving South Florida and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, we are dedicated to recovering and fairly distributing organs and tissues for transplantation, providing support to bereaved donor families, and educating healthcare professionals and the community about organ/tissue donation.
We are a team of specialized professionals who believe passionately in the value of giving greater meaning to those whose lives are suddenly and tragically cut short, by helping children and adults live longer, fuller lives through donation and transplantation.

Exciting advancements in transplantation, especially surgical skills and more powerful anti-rejection drugs, have resulted in a steadily increasing number of individuals with life-threatening diseases successfully receiving new livers, kidneys, lungs, hearts, and pancreases, intestines, and multi-organ transplants.
These recipients routinely experience revitalized health and renewed hope in their lives. Their life expectancy is dramatically increased. And they return to productive lives with their families and in the workplace.
Unfortunately, transplantation is unavailable to a large number of Americans. The national list of patients waiting for vital organs has surpassed 100,000 for the first time ever. Tens of thousands more individuals wait for tissue to restore sight, improve mobility and independence, and regain health through eye, bone, and skin transplants.

Eighteen people die every day while waiting for an organ. And every day 132 individuals with organ failure are added to the listóone every 11 minutes.
You have the power to donate life! To designate yourself as an organ, eye, and tissue donor by joining the Florida Statewide Organ and Tissue Donor Registry, visit        For more information, contact Life Alliance at 1-800-232-2892.
