2016 off to roaring start
We are off to a blazing start to 2016 after closing a fantastic year. Now is the time to fine tune your Return on Involvement at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.
We have already had our first quarterly meeting of the Council of Economic Advisors and their discussions, while positive overall, showed some signs of a peaking economic cycle. To read their full report please click here.
At our Board of Directors meeting last week, Chairman Heiko Dobrikow, Riverside Hotel, and Directors approved a resolution calling for a national search for the next president of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. After many years at the helm, Nicki Grossman is retiring at the end of May. Directors also received the game plan for this year and councils, committees and work groups are moving forward with their business plans.
Now is the time for you to consider directing your talents to one of our committees. We have everything from Technology to Government Affairs to Tourism or Education and Workforce Development to name but four. Click here to go to the committee.
All work and no play is no fun so might I suggest signing up for the Chamber's Annual Golf Classic presented by Crown Linen and brought to you by the Beach Council, Friday, February 12, Fort Lauderdale Country Club. This is a wonderful opportunity to play at one of our premier private country clubs with your colleagues and clients moving into the Presidents' Day weekend.
For new executives to South Florida or those who have been promoted to the C-level, the Chamber and Leadership Broward produce the Executive Leadership Orientation program kicking off this month. This accelerated offering is the best way to get up to speed on salient issues. I went through it eight years ago and it was very helpful.
Lastly, we will be heading to Tallahassee for Broward Days on Feb. 17-18. By attending you will be with many of our region's business leaders, elected officials, politicians and staff. Remember, it is better for business to be at the table than on the table.
See you around the Chamber.
