Broward Unemployment Remains Below 3%

Broward County's unemployment rate remained unchanged in November 2018, according to Florida Governor Rick Scott. The jobless rate is holding steady at 2.8%, which is 0.8 lower than our region's year ago rate of 3.6%. The Greater Fort Lauderdale area has now seen an increase of 17,300 jobs since November 2017.

Within the Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach Metro area, the construction (+6.9 percent); information (+2.5 percent); and trade, transportation and utilities (+1.9 percent) industries grew faster in the metro area than statewide over the past year. Overall, the labor force in Broward County stands at 1,041,1777, up 12,795 (+1.2 percent) over the year.

Meanwhile, there are healthy jobs numbers across the Sunshine State. Florida's unmployment rate dropped to 3.3% in November, down 0.6% compared to a year ago. And when looking back year-over-year, Florida has now gained 241,600 jobs since November 2017.
