During the course of 2010, we recognized many individuals who went above and beyond throughout the 100 year history of the Chamber. People like, Mike Jackson, AutoNation, Chuck Mohr, BankAtlantic, Dr. Dorothy Orr, Brightstar Credit Union, and Keith Winn, Green Profit Solutions.
Earlier this month, we saluted businesses with staying power: Gill Family, Inc., Riverside Hotel and the Wells Family, Fairchild Funder Home, Dolph Map Co., Elbo Room, Broward Paint and Wallpaper, and Bill Boyds Tackle Shop to name seven. All the preceding companies have been integral parts of our history for over 60 years.
Add to those: Burrows Electric (1948), Hobby House Camera Shop (1942), Causeway Lumber (1939), McLaughlin Engineering (1938), Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (1935), Jungle Queen (1935), Port Everglades (1927), Rogers Morris Zeigler (1925), Florida Power & Light (1925), Shutts & Bowen (1910), First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale (1907), and the City of Fort Lauderdale (1911).
These companies represent the best of our business community in so many respects. The impact they have had on the Chamber and our community will forever strengthen our resolve to build upon their legacy. We are a community of friends and collegial competitors, always striving for improvement.
Congratulations to all of us. As we look to the future with renewed commitment and focus, I count on you to help us build upon our past achievements towards our future successes. By working together there are no boundaries, only opportunties.
