December can typically be a time to lose focus. It is critical that you create results and finish the year strong instead of coasting into 2014.
You should have your business plan for 2014 taking shape with appropriate adjustments based on your business this year. Coordinating extracurricular activities that bring value to your core business is important, too.
I always encourage companies to make sure their brand is multi-dimensional. So many times, small business entrepreneurs have a tough time expanding their presence, earmarking little funds for marketing.
For example, this week your Chamber has multiple opportunities to expand your presence with the 2013 South Florida Innovation Awards--presented by BB&T, the Annual Holiday Social and the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.
Over 25 nominations have been submitted for the South Florida Innovation Awards this Thursday, 4:00 pm, the Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. There is no charge to be nominated or attend the event. You don't even have to be a Chamber member because our mission is to celebrate, educate and connect innovators across all industries in the tri-county area.
Innovation is followed by our celebration of the season at the Chamber's Holiday Social, also at Galleria, to benefit Henderson Behavioral Health. Santa is sure to be there.
Then on Saturday comes the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade with plenty of venues to view the greatest show on H2O up and down the New River and Intercoastal Waterway. Whether you pick a hotel like the Riverside or Gallery One or a restaurant like the new Bokamper's, make sure to have a reservation. There are also tickets available for grandstand seating at Birch State Park, $25 adults/$10 children 10 and younger (call WInterfest 954/767-0686).
Whatever you decide to attend, make sure to gain new relationships and cement past and current clients or customers. It can be exhausting at times but in the end a well balanced and executed business plan will enhance your bottom line.
