Mixed emotions but thankful

It is a bittersweet start to our work week with our war on terrorism turning another chapter.  I wasnít quite sure what to write about today, reliving so many emotions over the last 18 hours.  Our collective patriotism and reflection of 9-11 made me proud to be an American.

I donít want to dismiss yesterday.  It is an important date in world history.  But we must move on and continue to celebrate what is good and just.  The next couple of weeks at your Chamber we will do just that.

This Friday, May 6, 8:00 a.m. at Chamber Headquarters we will be honoring some of our best entrepreneurs.  The Chamberís Small Business of the Year Awards, presented by Citi, singles out exceptional business owners in the region in a variety of areas.  There will be five honorees in three categories: new business (1-3 years-old), established business (4 or more years-old), and a non-profit organization.

Please join me and several of our leaders at this splendid event with excitement, networking, food and refreshments. You can register online at by clicking here.

Next week we will also honor the graduating class of Leadership Fort Lauderdale, Class XVII.  Itís hard to imagine that over 500 business men and women have participated in this award winning program.  While we celebrate this wonderful accomplishment, we are registering candidates for Class XVIII.  Contact carolyn@ftlchamber.com for more information or click here for the online application.

We have so much for which to be thankful.
