Nominations are now open for the 2018 Small Business of the Year Awards, and the Small Business Committee is touting several major changes to the program.
This year, seven Chamber businesses will be honored for their contributions to the South Florida community. The expanded categories are: Health & Wellness, Hospitality & Tourism, Nonprofit Organization, Professional Services, Retail Products & Services, Small Business Person of the Year and Technology.
Only existing Chamber members with 50 or fewer employees may be nominated, with the exception of nonprofits, which have no employee cap for entry. A panel of judges coordinated by the Small Business Committee and select community leaders will evaluate each nominee and select one winner per category. The Small Business Person of the Year will be selected from the entire pool of nominations.
An application fee of $60 will be charged for all nominations and includes one ticket to the breakfast. All nominations are due by 5 p.m. April 6 and must be submitted electronically. The Small Business of the Year Awards will be held May 4 at the Downtown Events Center inside First Baptist Church Fort Lauderdale. Tickets can be purchased and nomination forms filled out at www.ftlchamber.com/smallbusinessawards.
