Chamber's June activities vast

Greetings from Denver, CO, where the City of Fort Lauderdale has been awarded All-America City honors by the National Civic League at its annual program.

We were one of 23 cities competing and 10 awardees.  Established in 1949, the All-America City Award recognizes cities, counties, towns, neighborhoods, and metropolitan areas across the country for exemplary community-based problem solving and civic engagement efforts that involve public, private, and non-profit entities.  For more information about this prestigious award and all the submissions please click here.

Congratulations also goes out to our GLBX Council for its fantastic ARTOPIA event last week presented by AUDI of Coral Springs and Lighthouse Point.  They truly produced a memorable evening for all who attended.

On Tuesday morning, Congresswomen Lois Frankel and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz will be holding a news conference at Port Everglades to talk about the passage of legislation that enables us to move forward with expansion of our sea port.  This pivotal transportation strategy is critical for trade, and job creation and retention in our region and state.

Port Everglades will be highlighted along with many other transportation initiatives at the Chamber's Transportation Forum, June 25 at the Westin Cypress Creek.  This update will provide attendees with all the information they need to understand current and future projects including: 595 and 95 enhancements, the Wave Streetcar, Port Everglades, All Aboard Florida, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and much more.  Register for this luncheon panel program by clicking here.

There will also be a Chamber Business Briefing, June 24, 8-9:30 am, Chamber headquarters, focusing on how small business owners can protect themselves from litigation by one of the top human resources law firms in the country--Fisher & Phillips.  This complimentary session will give you all the information you need regarding wage and hour litigation which is prevalent in South Florida.  Click here to register.

Lastly, we are producing a street map this year coupled with our electronic version that will boost sales and traffic.  To get a jump on it simply click here to reserve your space for this heavily distributed Chamber product.  You can contact our partner, Steve Schrage at 954.295.6476, for details.

See you around the Chamber!
