THE JIM MORAN INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP HOSTS 7TH ANNUAL BUSINESS & LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE IN FORT LAUDERDALE, F

 

Jon Acuff, New York Times Best-Selling Author, to be Keynote Speaker

 

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. — The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship at Florida State University is pleased to host its 7th Annual Jim Moran Institute Business & Leadership Conference from Wednesday, June 21 to Thursday, June 22 at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center. The two day-long event is designed to provide high-level executive training and networking opportunities to entrepreneurs, business leaders, and non-profit executives.

 

The Conference will feature a networking breakfast reception, keynote luncheon, “Pitch the Editor” competition, workshops, and an exhibit hall. This year's keynote speaker will be Jon Acuff. A New York Times bestselling author of five books, Jon Acuff has helped some of the biggest brands in the world tell their story including The Home Depot, Bose, Staples and the Dave Ramsey Team. Featured regularly on national media, Jon can be seen on CNN, Fox News, Good Day LA and more. He is also a contributor to Time, the Harvard Business Review, Fast Company and MSNBC.

Norm Brodsky, Inc. Magazine senior contributing editor, will be the conference’s opening speaker. A veteran entrepreneur, Norm built a $180 million company, went bankrupt at 45, rebounded to build a new company and sold it for $110 million. He has been sharing his wisdom and experience with up-and-coming entrepreneurs for 25 years as a one-on-one mentor, a nationally recognized columnist, public speaker and Master of Ceremonies of the Inc. 5000 Conference. Today, Norm owns three companies including BEN Global Mentorship, an e-learning company. 

Day one’s featured event will be the “Pitch the Editor” competition. Five conference attendees will present a three-minute pitch to Norm Brodsky and other local media personalities. The panelists will discuss the quality of the pitch, the story behind the pitch, and the worthiness of the idea while providing feedback to the participants.

Day two will feature a variety of workshop sessions covering topics including finance, legal, strategic planning, leadership, marketing and nonprofits. Four-time entrepreneur, best-selling author, editor and producer Ramon Ray will be featured as the closing speaker.

The conference will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22.
