Ft. Lauderdale (December 19, 2017)—The Downtown Business Council of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2018 Downtowner of the Year award winner. This year’s honoree is Kelley Shanley, President & CEO of the Performing Arts Center Authority which operates the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Since 1979 the Downtown Business Council has bestowed this honor on numerous community leaders who have continually demonstrated leadership, direction and community involvement within the city of Fort Lauderdale. Shanley is a high-caliber leader who has worked tirelessly to enhance the arts.
“Kelley is recognized in the community for his on-going generosity and exemplifies what it means to truly be a 'Downtowner,” said Carolyn Michaels, Executive Vice President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. “He is active in countless downtown activities and community organizations and gives back to our community to better the experience that is Downtown Fort Lauderdale."
This year’s ‘Downtowner of the Year’ event will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Global Events Center, located at the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale at 301.E. Broward Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
