Best in Class at Salute to Business
Join hundreds of business women and men this Wednesday evening, November 7, 5:30 pm, to celebrate and congratulate our best in class at Salute to Business, presented by Bank of America—Chairman’s Circle member.
Our Hall of Fame recipient this year is Lynn Shatas, Florida Power and Light, Manager of External Affairs, past chair of the Chamber and Chairman’s Circle member, for over 43 years of outstanding leadership and service. Shatas has been vital to the growth of our community and is well deserving of this prestigious honor.
Over the last several years, Allied Kitchen & Bath, and Bill and Joe Feinberg and their family, have had a significant impact on many South Florida homes, the non-profit community and even Congress. The Entrepreneurial Award is being given to them for their outstanding success from their Oakland Park Boulevard showroom location.
Few organizations have been more generous than Broward Health when it comes to Community Philanthropy, and we honor this institution and its leadership for serving more than one million residents at over 30 facilitates. Through its impressive network and Foundation, Broward Health continues to make a significant contribution to our area.
Florida Atlantic University will receive our Education and Workforce Development award for its phenomenal tradition of excellence in providing internationally recognized programs, outstanding faculty, and top-shelf graduates. As Florida’s fifth public university, FAU boasts an impressive 10 colleges with more than 175 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Our Diversity in Business awardee is Hispanic Unity of Florida, serving 20,000 clients annually from 25 countries in three languages. Almost half of its clients are non-Hispanic, as it uses a one-stop approach to empower those served to become self-sufficient.
Nipro Diagnostics is being recognized for Globalization and International Trade. This 20-year-old world leader, headquartered in Osaka, Japan, with a manufacturing facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL, helps diabetics better manage their disease with a variety of state-of-the-art products.
Lastly, our Hospitality Award winner is The Orange Bowl Committee, created in 1935 with a mission of bringing tourism and economic development to South Florida. In January 2013, The Orange Bowl Committee will double host the Orange Bowl and the National Championship game with a combined $200 million in economic impact for the region. This is Orange!
