Yesterday's municipal elections in two cities in which your Chamber has close relationships were interesting to say the least.
In Fort Lauderdale, Chamber member and newly elected District II Commissioner Dean Trantalis edged out former commissioner Charlotte Rodstrom (1,543 to 1,525). There is a slim chance provisional ballots could cause closer review.
Rodstrom had to give up the seat for her losing bid for a County Commissioner in November. Trantalis was previously on the commission, too.
In Oakland Park, Sara Guevrekian won in the race for Seat 1 over Steven Arnst, former mayor, by 89 votes. In Seat 5, Tim Lonergan won by a strong margin over Layne Walls. All six charter amendments in Oakland Park were approved dealing with everything from moving the election from March to November to ethics and voting conflicts.
Congratulations to all of you who participated in the election process.
