Chamber's Focus on Third Quarter Activity

"Summer recess" is coming to an end for us and it is time to focus on getting back to business and focusing on making 2013 a banner economic year.

Your Chamber, its investors and staff, are involved in many important programs, products and services so I wanted to take an opportunity to lay it out for you.

Leadership Fort Lauderdale Class XX remains open for registration with a few spots available.  This is our premier training program for future leaders of the organization and our community.

Marina Lofts site plan approval will be heard by the City of Fort Lauderdale Commission on August 20 beginning at 6:00 pm at City Hall.  Your Chamber Board of Directors supports this development as it will bring affordable, luxury rentals to the New River with an exciting design by one of the world's most popular architechts--Bjarke Ingles.

Our Nominating Committee will be approved by the Board of Directors in August to discuss recommendations for the 2014 Board.  The Committee, led by Chair-Elect Courtney Crush, Crush Law, will review candidates for 2016 Chair-Elect Designate, Elected Directors, and Vice Chairs. The final report will be delivered to Directors in the fourth quarter.

As Congress is on break we are hosting Congressman Ted Deutch at a luncheon on August 21 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.  The congressman will also appear at the Washington Summit Kick-Off Reception on Monday, August 26, at the Riverside Hotel.  For more information about the Washington Summit click here.

Our popular Jazz in the Hall tabletop expo will be held at the Chamber on September 19, 5:30 pm.  This is a great venue to display your business in front of several hundred potential customers.

We appreciate your patience while we take care of your Chamber Headquarters with a new roof, air conditioning, lights in the parking lot, fresh paint and a few other odds and ends.  Everything in phase one of the plan will be finished in August.  Much thanks to Doug Watt, Doug Watt, Inc., and Pete Daltner from Stiles for all their help and assistance.
