Future vision and this week's offerings

On July 8 All Aboard Florida will unveil the greatly anticipated station in downtown Fort Lauderdale that will be a hub of economic activity in the future.  The vision for our County Seat is progressing nicely.

Right now we have multiple strategies working--Wave Streetcar, Fort Lauderdale Beach CRA, Broward County Courthouse, completion of enhancements to the Performing Arts Center, over 7,000 multi-family units in various phases of construction with more in planning and design, Port Everglades' expansion on track, Interstate 95 express lanes to begin in Broward moving North, Convention Center expansion in motion, discussion on a new Federal Courthouse underway, and talks underway for a soccer stadium with the Beckam group in Broward County.

While all of this is in motion, this week at your Chamber will be valuable.

Our non-profit members will be meeting on Wednesday, July 9, 9:30 am, for their monthly open forum breakfast that is always at capacity.  This fast-paced exchange is well suited for any business.

That same day the Beach Council Candidate Forum Luncheon for Broward County Commission District 4 will be held at the Westin Beach Resort and Spa. Your Beach Council, Downtown Council and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association's South Florida Chapter are partnering to hold this event.  SunSentinel reporter Brittany Wallman will be our moderator.

Then on Thursday our GLBX Council, coming off its successful ARTOPIA event, will host its after hours reception at the Pride Center with a focus on their annual collection of school supplies for area schools.  Make sure to bring your school supplies with you to the event or drop them off at the Chamber in the lobby area.

On Friday, new Florida Atlantic University President Jim Kelly will be our guest as your Chamber co-hosts a meet and great with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and the Broward Workshop.

Lastly, the heat is on with our 100 New Members in 100 Days campaign where you have a chance to refer members and win valuable services and prizes.  There is a reason why our members Experience Better Business and you can help spread the word and be rewarded.  Click here for more details.

See you around The Chamber!
