Broward County Issues Cold Weather Advisory

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The National Weather Service is forecasting low temperatures this week, including wind chill in the mid-40s in the Broward metro areas overnight this weekend on Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th.

As a result of this forecast, Broward County has declared a Cold Weather Emergency from 6:30PM, Saturday December 9th to 9AM, Sunday, December 10th and from 6:30PM, Sunday, December 10th to 9AM, Monday, December 11th.

Homeless persons are advised to report to the following locations no later than 6:30PM on Saturday and Sunday nights for transportation or access to special cold night shelters:

Pompano Beach 
Pompano Beach City Hall 
100 W. Atlantic Blvd. (Southeast Corner) 
(Pickup Location Only)

Fort Lauderdale 
The Salvation Army 
1445 West Broward Blvd. 
(Shelter and Pickup Location)

Broward Outreach Center 
2056 Scott St. 
(Shelter and Pickup Location)

However, if the weather forecast changes to predict warmer or colder conditions, cold weather emergency shelter nights may be canceled or extended. If there are any changes to this declaration, they will be issued no later than 1PM on the date of the event.
