23rd Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards
Call for Nominations:
The Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) today announced a call for nominations for the 23rd annual National Philanthropy Day® Awards, which recognize and pay tribute to the extraordinary contributions that charitable giving and volunteerism have made to Broward County. Award winners will be honored at a luncheon on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Signature Grand in Davie, Fla.
The general public is invited to join in the celebration by nominating the outstanding Broward philanthropists whose contributions have made a significant impact in the organizations they serve and the community as a whole. Non-profit organizations that have their nominee selected for an award will receive a complimentary table at the luncheon in honor of their award winner. The deadline for all nominations is Tuesday, August 31, 2010, and nomination guidelines, samples and forms can be accessed online at http://afpbroward.org/npd_nomination.html.
Awards will be presented to outstanding candidates in the following categories:
- Volunteer Fundraiser
- Fundraising Executive
- Philanthropic Foundation
- Philanthropic Corporation
- Youth in Philanthropy
National Philanthropy Day® is part of AFP’s worldwide celebration of philanthropy during the month of November. Over the past 22 years, the Fort Lauderdale/Broward chapter has honored more than 100 individuals and organizations for their significant philanthropic contributions to the local community.
In 2009, the following individuals and organizations received awards: Outstanding Philanthropist – Don Taft; Outstanding Foundation – The Jim Moran Foundation; Outstanding Fundraising Executive – Rick Schuster; Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser – Janet Davis; Outstanding Organization – East Broward Auxiliary of Children’s Home Society; and Lifetime Achievement – Leslie W. Brown (posthumously).
