Second Annual Broward County Public Schools Debate Initiative Luncheon
201 SW Fifth Avenue
Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom
33312 Fort Lauderdale
The Broward County Debate Initiative is a partnership between local businesses and school debate programs within Broward County. Now in its fifth year of implementation, the Initiative includes over 90 schools and almost 10,000 students. Every public middle and high school, the three technical colleges in addition to twelve elementary schools, and three alternative schools now have debate programs. The initiative is grounded in research that shows the demonstrable impact participation in debate has on student achievement.

On Saturday, August 27, 232 students were given professional outfits for the 2016-2017 competitive season. Unfortunately, our supply is now extremely low and dwindling rapidly. You can help the students in our local debate community by participating in our professional clothing drive. At the luncheon (or before at the K.C. Wright School Board Building), we are collecting new or gently used suits, other business professional apparel, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and unused cosmetics. Any attendees who donate at the luncheon will receive a special thank you gift.
