The Washington Summit
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce takes a delegation to Washington, D.C. every two years. Hosted by a representative from South Florida, a group of 75 business leaders takes part in a three-day lobbying trip, pushing for issues specifically tailored to the Broward County business community. They meet face-to-face with members of Congress and enjoy receptions and programs at embassies and national landmarks.
The 2017 Washington Summit focused on eight key areas, with delegates meeting face-to-face with both Senators Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson, as well as an assortment of representatives from both parties. Members also spoke with German Ambassador Peter Wittig and enjoyed a reception with Emirati Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates. Several members of city government were also asked to attend meetings at the White House during the Summit.
